This test is intended for the qualitative detection of the antigen Giardia duodenalis in the feces or vomit of a dog or cat.
Giardia duodenalis is an intestinal parasite found in dogs, cats, and humans.Several genotypes (A–G) have been identified, among which the genotypes A and B can be transmitted between species.Infection occurs via the fecal-oral route—through contact with a carrier, contaminated water, food, or surfaces.It only takes swallowing a few cysts to cause an infection.
Symptoms of the infection include: diarrhea, bloating, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort.
